A new location for New Life

Giving back: New Life Church has a new home at 4013 Columbus Ave. in Perkins Township. Senior Pastor Dustin Ours tells The Helm that along with the relocation, the new building is getting “a total renovation” including a new roof, parking lot, landscaping, and all new interior design. The church recently won the award for Business/Group of the Year from Erie County Job and Family Services and Erie County Commissioners for the work they do for children and families in the community. With a new space to grow, the timing is perfect for the church to continue their work.

Ours explains that foster care involvement is one of the things that sets their church apart by having many families involved in the system.

“We are family-oriented and believe in the importance of pouring into our kids,” Ours says.

Along with fostering kids, welcoming new people into their congregation is also a difference maker.

“New people comment that they feel seen and recognized by the staff and volunteers.”

Ours notes that also “we lovingly, yet unapologetically stand on the truth of God’s Word.”

Statement of Faith: “We exist to see people around the world KNOW God, GROW in faith, and GO make disciples” Ours explains as their statement of faith. Words like “lively” and “passionate” describe this congregation. Ours goes on to say that we have “authentic people striving to know God and make him known.”

When asked about the church’s love for Ohio, Ours says that Sandusky is great for so many reasons.

“There is great unity among different churches in this area that you don’t experience in other towns,” he says.

In addition to Sandusky being wonderful for families with activities such as Cedar Point, parks, the lake, and other events, it is clear that this church is drawn to a mission of giving back which everyone in the community benefits from regardless of their faith.

Services are held at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. For a complete list of New Life Church’s “DNA” (Core Beliefs, Core Values, and Core Disciplines, visit the church's website. Information also can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
