Quesa-Broso offers curbside cravings to Mexican food lovers

What is it: The Quesa-Broso food truck, run by Liliana Mazariegos López, Eduardo Muñoz, and Jorge Luis, serves authentic Mexican food to hungry customers in Norwalk, and most recently, in Sandusky.

Who they are: López, who lives in Norwalk, is a mother of three and part-time medical assistant. She runs the truck with her brother, Muñoz, her partner, Luis, and the help of family. López is a native of Chiapas, Mexico, and moved to the U.S. when she was 8 years old. She has maintained a love of her Mexican roots, and, of course, the food.

“I’m always the one cooking for family events or festivities,” she says.

Those who enjoyed her food at those events were blown away, telling her that she should sell it, so she started taking orders via Facebook. That quickly transitioned to buying a food truck.

The menu: All items, from the salsa to the chicken tinga, are made from scratch, López says. Menus vary, so you can find locations and menu options for the week on the Quesa-Broso Facebook page. They also have a concession-style menu that is not featured on Facebook, so be sure to look for “extras” like Mexican street corn and guacamole when visiting the truck.

López says she has been surprised to find the public so welcoming of their original flavors.

“I thought maybe people wanted a more Americanized Mexican food, but they love the authentic flavors,” she says.

Expanding the business: Although López has been whipping up her flavorful Mexican dishes from the Norwalk-based food truck since July 2022, the business partners have been branching out to the Sandusky market over the last several months. Previously, they have set up at Smoke & Beer Jungle on Milan Road in Perkins Township and Firelands Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Cleveland Road in Sandusky.

López says a second truck will join the fleet so the team can have one truck for Norwalk and one for the Sandusky area. In the distant future, López would love to have a restaurant, but for now, two trucks will be pumping out authentic Mexican treats for the surrounding areas.
