Second Harvest Food Bank receives honor

What is it: Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio was named one of the 2023 Best Employers in Ohio.

Why is it important: This recognition highlights the organization's commitment to providing a positive and supportive work environment for its employees, who work hard to support the mission of providing food for the community.

“We are honored to be named one of the best employers in Ohio,” says President and CEO Julie Chase-Morefield. “Our employees work hard to support our mission and provide food for so many in our community. We want to make sure they feel valued and appreciated every day.”

How to qualify: To be considered for Best Employers in Ohio, companies had to participate in a two-part survey process. The first part evaluated workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics (25% of total evaluation), while the second part involved an employee survey to measure the employee experience (75% of total evaluation).

Perks of working at Second Harvest: Floating holidays, employee appreciation programs, paid parental leave, and volunteer/community service hours, in addition to standard benefits like paid holidays, vacation/personal time, and medical insurance. The rankings of the 2023 Best Employers in Ohio were unveiled in a special supplement produced by Crain’s Content Studio-Cleveland and published in Crain’s Cleveland Business on June 12.
