Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness brings beauty and wellness to Perkins Township

Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness may have just opened in July 2022, but owners Dr. Janice Rice and Amber Keller are making a large impact on their community. The Helm had the chance to find out more about the duo and the philosophy behind their Perkins Township-based business.

What is it: Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness, 1522 E. Perkins Ave. Suite E, Sandusky, is a medical spa that offers a range of services and medical-grade skin care, all of which have been FDA-approved. Services include Botox and Dysport, lip fillers like Juvederm Ultra, microneedling with or without protein-rich plasma, hydrafacials, IV hydration, waxing, and specialty injectables like Kybella and Sculptra. The medspa plans to offer laser hair removal and skin resurfacing soon.

The center provides a comfortable space, a warm and approachable staff, and a homey atmosphere that soothes the nerves and helps their clients achieve their desired outcomes, Rice and Keller say. They worked with fellow Sanduskian Morgan Wadding of MW Design Studio & Interior Styling to achieve this style.

“It gives it a really cozy, personal vibe,” Rice says.

The faces behind the business: Rice is a board-certified ER physician, facility medical director at Southwest Brunswick Medical Center, and co-owner of Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness. She’s also been named one of Cleveland Magazine’s Top Doctors for three years in a row.

Amber Keller, MSN, is certified in family medicine with specialized training in aesthetics and injectables. Keller had more than seven years of nursing experience in a variety of surgical services, including plastics and cosmetic surgery before she decided to further her education to become a nurse practitioner. Keller currently works full time at Firelands Health Urgent Care.

The two were brought together by their drive to provide less invasive aesthetics and wellness practices to people in the area. Rice says Keller gave her the nudge she needed to open the medical spa.

“When we connected, [Amber] said, ‘I think you’d be good at this; you just need a little push,“ Rice says.

Hometown connection: “We are both born and raised in Sandusky and we both wanted to open a med spa in our hometown,” Rice says. “[People would say] you should open a place, you should open a place, and it just kind of made sense.”

Both Rice and Keller say they are grateful for the trust that the community has in them and their willingness to come to them for services again and again.

“We have a lot of ties in the community,” Rice says. “You’re definitely going to get more of that personal feel.”

Expansion on the horizon: Although the business started out as a two-person venture, it has become so popular that it now employs two aestheticians, two RN injectors, and a marketing director. They even have plans to move to a new location in Timber Lake Commons, near the Sandusky Mall, at the beginning of June.

“We want to be able to offer more services to our clients,” Rice says, “and it’s amazing to have the support to be able to grow to offer more of those services.”
